The program is designed to help women, non-binary, and Two-Spirit professionals advance in Canada's animation industry, providing mentorship and workshops over the coming year. Participants will spend that time making an animated short together.
The selection process was competitive: ACE Canada received more than 150 applications and narrowed the field to 45 finalists. A jury of more than 35 industry professionals helped choose the final nine. Cartoon Brew reported the announcement.
The new team's film has not yet been announced. Previous ACE shorts include Pivot, Ostinato, and Rocketship Mai. According to ACE Canada, 29 alumni of earlier cohorts now work in senior animation roles.
