The Animation Showcase Opens 2026 Collection of 15 Shorts

The Animation Showcase launched its 2026 collection of 15 animated shorts on October 27, 2026, with free streaming for verified animation and film industry professionals, according to cartoonbrew.com.

The films run from six to 21 minutes in length. Access requires registration and verification of professional credentials, such as IMDb, LinkedIn or Vimeo profiles.

The lineup includes Please, directed by Anna Mantzaris, which won the shorts Special Jury Prize at Animation Is Film, and Living with a Visionary, directed by Stephen P. Neary, which took animation short jury awards at Sundance and AFI Fest.

Also in the collection is Apart, directed by Pola Maneli and co-written by Spike Lee. The film follows a friendship between two boys in apartheid South Africa, with Black Coffee as music supervisor and Laduma Ngxokolo as costume designer.

Curated sections are dedicated to Miyu and the National Film Board of Canada. Titles available across the selections include Acid City, Bread Will Walk, Corpus Christi, Cosmonauts, Dog Alone, The End, Once Upon a Body, Paradaïz, Praying Mantis, Saba, Sulaimani and What We Leave Behind.

Ten years of The Animation Showcase

Benoit Berthe Siward founded The Animation Showcase in 2016, and the platform launched during the Covid-19 lockdown. According to the organization, it now has more than 50,000 verified professionals. Previous films hosted on The Animation Showcase include Flee, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Memoir of a Snail, Arco and Little Amélie, alongside Oscar-winning shorts such as The Windshield Wiper and In the Shadow of the Cypress. The 2026 collection coincides with the platform's tenth anniversary.
