Bandai introduced Gundam XMX, a new line of Gunpla model kits, at 2026 Wonder Festival Shanghai, according to cbr.com. The line marks Gunpla's first official blind-box model kit format.
The initial Gundam XMX launch will include six model kits, one of which has yet to be revealed. The kits feature a unique joint structure for flexible movement and dynamic posing at small scale, with easily swappable parts. They also offer push-button sprue gates and pre-painted parts.
Gundam XMX blind boxes will retail for 59.9 Chinese Yuan, roughly $9 USD, with the models expected to arrive in Spring 2027.
The first wave will consist primarily of Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, particularly the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam, which debuted in the 2005 series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
Earlier Gundam Figure Lines
In August 2025, Bandai Spirits' Tamashii Nations unveiled the Absolute Impact figure line, the first line of detailed, articulated, pre-painted Mobile Suit Gundam models. That line arrived in stores last month, with the Strike Freedom Gundam as the first Mobile Suit slated to receive the treatment. The Strike Freedom Gundam Type II later served as the basis for the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam that debuted in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom.
