Kojima Productions unveiled a teaser trailer and a visual for the anime DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS at its 10th anniversary event in Tokyo, and said the series will stream on Disney+ and related services in 2027.
The story is set after the original Death Stranding game, in North America just after Sam reconnects the continent via the Chiral Network. It follows a girl who chose to cut all ties with the outside world.
Takayuki Sano directs, with Tow Ubukata handling series composition and screenplay and Ilya Kuvshinov drawing the original character designs. Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer and Sayaka Koiso is character designer, while E&H production produces the animation.
Other credits include Yann Le Gall on color script and art direction, Ami Kutsuna as color designer, Tomohiko Kan as 3D department manager, Jumi Lee as compositing director, Keisuke Yanagi as editor and Shuhei Abe as sound director.
Death Stranding is also being adapted elsewhere: an anime film is in production at ABC Animation Studio under director Hiroshi Miyamoto, and a live-action Hollywood film directed by Michael Sarnoski is in the works at A24. E&H production previously worked on NINJA KAMUI, BULLET/BULLET and the Magic Knight Rayearth television series.
