Detective Pretty Cure! Film Sets Franchise Standalone Box Office Record

Toei Animation says the film has passed the 1.24 billion yen mark held by 2024's Wonderful Precure! The Movie.

Toei Animation announced on October 18 that Detective Pretty Cure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Two Secrets has become the highest-grossing standalone film in the Pretty Cure franchise, according to news.denfaminicogamer.jp.

The film passed the previous record of 1.24 billion yen, set by the 2024 entry Wonderful Precure! The Movie: A Grand Adventure in a Thrilling Game World! It opened in theaters on September 18 and has been running for about one month.

To mark the result, the studio released new character cuts of four companion fairies and published a lyric video for the film's insert song, First Step. A seventh wave of theatergoer bonuses was also announced, though its contents have not yet been revealed.

Staff talk screening set for October 29

A second staff-talk cheering screening is scheduled for October 29 at Shinjuku Wald 9, with director Ueda Hanako and producers Nakagawa Mao of Toei Animation and Tada Kanako of ABC Animation taking part.

The franchise began with Futari wa Pretty Cure on February 1, 2004 and has run for 23 works. The 2023 crossover film Precure All Stars F holds the overall series record at approximately 1.5 billion yen.
