Expelled from Paradise, Girls Band Cry Films Launch Joint Project

A collaboration project between Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart and Girls Band Cry the Movie has launched ahead of both films' Japanese theatrical releases, according to crunchyroll.com. The project opens with a new video and a series of shared visuals.

The video, streaming on Aniplex's official YouTube channel, sets footage from Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart to “Zattou, Bokura no Machi,” the opening theme of the Girls Band Cry TV anime. It looks back on memorable scenes from the film's previous trailers.

Alongside the video, the project released visuals themed around high school girl culture in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s, with characters from both works appearing in school uniforms. The 1980s visual features Rupa and Danell, the 1990s Subaru and Penemu, the 2000s Nina and Gabriel, the 2010s Tomo and Raguel, and the 2020s Momoka and Alma.

Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart is scheduled for theatrical release in Japan on November 13, 2026. Seiji Mizushima directs, with a screenplay by Gen Urobuchi, character designs by Masatsugu Saito, mechanical designs by Kanetake Ebikawa, Junya Ishigaki and Takayuki Yanase, and music by NARASAKI.

Girls Band Cry the Movie is scheduled for theatrical release in Japan on May 21, 2027. Kazuo Sakai directs with a script by Jukki Hanada, and the film is set two months after the TV anime, featuring an original story in which Togenashi Togeari go on a nationwide tour.
