Ghost of Tsushima Anime Delayed to 2028, New Cast Revealed
Crunchyroll's New York Comic Con 2026 showcase announced new cast and staff for Ghost of Tsushima: Kuroudo Kitan, now pushed from 2027 to 2028.
The anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima has been delayed to 2028, Crunchyroll announced during its showcase at New York Comic Con 2026 on Thursday. The series, titled Ghost of Tsushima: Kuroudo Kitan, was originally planned for a 2027 premiere.
The showcase also revealed additional cast members: Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu are joining the production, though their characters have not yet been announced.
New staff credits were confirmed as well. Satoshi Maejima is handling script, Takashi Okazaki is serving as character designer, Yoshikazu Iwanami is sound director, Yasumasa Koyama is handling sound effects, and Keiji Inai is composing the music.
Production is by Hayate, with Takanobu Mizuno directing at Kamikaze Douga and Gen Urobuchi handling series composition. The anime is produced by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Sony Music, and PlayStation Productions.
Background
The original Ghost of Tsushima launched on PlayStation 4 in July 2020, followed by the multiplayer expansion Ghost of Tsushima: Legends in October 2020. The game came to PlayStation 5 in August 2021 and to PC in May 2024. Its sequel, Ghost of Yotei, arrived on PlayStation 5 in October 2025. The anime adaptation was first announced in January 2025 with a 2027 premiere target.
