Initial D pop-up shop opens with 1/18 AE86 model and real car

The Utsunomiya venue displays AUTOart's 1/18 scale Toyota Sprinter Trueno (AE86) in Project D spec next to a full-size AE86 until November 1.

A limited-time pop-up shop for Initial D goods opened on the first floor of FKD Interpark in Utsunomiya, Tochigi, and runs through November 1, according to animeanime.jp. The shop displays and sells AUTOart's 1/18 scale Toyota Sprinter Trueno (AE86) model.

A real AE86 is also on display at the venue so visitors can compare the full-size car with the scale model. The 1/18 model is based on the Project D specification from the later part of Shuichi Shigeno's manga.

The model features retractable headlights, doors and hood that open and close, and comes with a metal plate in a special package. Buyers who cannot visit the Utsunomiya venue can order the model online through CAMSHOP.JP.

Initial D ran in Weekly Young Magazine from 1995 issue 30 to 2013 issue 35, and the manga has surpassed 56 million cumulative copies printed. The series marked its 30th anniversary of serialization in 2025.
