The series, written by Yaku with illustrations by Fly, is published by Shogakukan under its Gagaga Bunko imprint. Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in November 2018.
Yaku first won the Excellence Award at the 10th Shogakukan Light Novel Award in March 2016 for Manten Kazari no Ganbariron!, and Shogakukan published the light novel under Gagaga Bunko in May 2016.
The 11th volume was released in January 2024. As of January 2021, the series had a cumulative 1.2 million copies in circulation.
A manga adaptation by Eight Chida ran in Monthly Gangan Joker from December 2017 to February 2021, with Square Enix publishing the sixth and final volume in April 2021. A spin-off manga, Nanami Minami wa Kagayakitai, drawn by Bana Yoshida, began serialization on MangaONE and in Monthly Sunday Gene-X in July 2020; Shogakukan released its third volume in January 2023.
The anime adaptation, produced by Project No.9, aired a 12-episode first season in Winter 2021 and a 13-episode second season titled 2nd Stage in Winter 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles in multiple languages and an English dub.
