McDonald's Japan's burger 'brothers' spark anime comparisons
McDonald's Japan posted otome-game-style posts for its three Chicken Burgers, and fans matched them to IDOLiSH7 and other characters.
McDonald's Japan posted images of its three Chicken Burger Series items as three brothers with otome-game-style lines, and fans responded by comparing them to anime and VTuber characters, according to animeanime.jp. The posts appeared on the chain's official X account as the burgers went on sale on October 21, 2026.
The three burgers are Zaku Zaku Juicy Mac, Teriyaki Chicken Juicy Mac and Spicy Zaku Zaku Juicy Mac. In the posts, the eldest brother is presented as the "orthodox sweet-and-dominant" type, the middle as the "provocative self-absorbed" type and the youngest as the "good-at-acting-cute younger" type.
Social media users said they would date all three, and named characters from various titles the burgers reminded them of. Among the matches suggested were Tenn Kujo, Gaku Yaotome and Ryunosuke Tsunashi, the members of TRIGGER from IDOLiSH7, lined up against the eldest, middle and youngest brothers respectively.
Other users pointed to Roy, Edward and Alphonse from Fullmetal Alchemist, and to Reo Mikage, Rin Itoshi and Seishiro Nagi from Blue Lock. Nijisanji VTubers Kuzuha and Minato Fuwa were also named, along with TM Opera O, Sirius Symboli and Forever Young from Uma Musume Pretty Derby.
