Monster Strike Gets New Anime Mera×Death for January 2027

MIXI has announced a new anime in the Monster Strike franchise titled Mera×Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijō na Koi. The series is set to debut in Japan on January 5, 2027, airing on Tokyo MX and 10 other channels, as well as on streaming services.
Kenta Kushitani is directing the anime at Qzil.la and studio keel. Daisuke Ōhigashi is overseeing and writing the series scripts, with Tadashi Sakazaki serving as character designer.
The music is being composed by Masaru Yokoyama, Kana Hashiguchi, and Natsuki Hamada. The announcement was reported by Anime News Network.
A Long-Running Franchise
MIXI launched the original Monster Strike game on iOS and Android in Japan in 2013. The English version of the game ended service in 2017, and a Nintendo 3DS game debuted in Japan in 2015.
The franchise's first 52-episode net anime season, Monster Strike the Animation, premiered in October 2015. Later entries include Monster Strike: End of the World in November 2019 on YouTube and Monster Strike: Deadverse Reloaded, which debuted in October 2025 and ran for one cours of 10 episodes. Amazon Prime Video added all 10 episodes of Deadverse Reloaded with English subtitles in January.
Three films have also opened in Japan: Monster Strike The Movie in December 2016, Monster Strike The Movie: Sora no Kanata in October 2018, and Monster Strike the Movie: Lucifer Dawn of Despair in November 2020 after delays.
