About the franchise
RuneScape, first released in 2001, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in the medieval fantasy world of Gielinor. According to Jagex, the franchise has welcomed more than 300 million player accounts.
Lyrical's recent animation work includes Godslap, a 2D hand-drawn feature based on the comic MoistCr1TiKaL co-created. It is in production at Powerhouse Animation Studios with Kellan Stover directing and is planned for release in 2028.
Lyrical's slate also includes feature adaptations of Death Stranding and Bloodborne, the latter involving Seán "Jacksepticeye" McLoughlin.
