The Hunter X Hunter series has faced multiple interruptions in recent years. The manga most recently resumed serialization on June 29, 2026, before entering a hiatus on September 7, 2026. Prior to this, the series had also gone on hiatus in January 2023 due to the author's health.

Despite the September 2026 hiatus, Togashi continued work on his personal manuscripts, completing the work for chapter 428 on September 15, 2026. Shueisha, the publisher of the series, released the 39th volume of Hunter X Hunter on July 3, 2026.
