The Japan Animation Association announced on October 7 the key visual and program details for TOKYO ANIME NEXT, an event it will hold mainly in the Ikebukuro area of Tokyo from October 30 to November 2, 2026, according to gamebusiness.jp.
The main event on the final day, November 2, at Tokyo Tatemono Brillia HALL will run about 90 minutes, with doors opening at 17:30 and the performance starting at 18:30. It is divided into three parts: an Opening Ceremony, an Orchestra Premium Stage, and the announcement of information about a new anime award planned for 2027 — the first time the concept will be made public.
The Orchestra Premium Stage will focus on three titles — Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Attack on Titan and Detective Conan — combining specially edited famous-scene footage, a live performance by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and live sets by artists. The performers are Mai Kuraki, Nami Nakagawa and Ai Higuchi, with Hirofumi Kurita conducting, Kazunori Miyake handling orchestral arrangements and Akihisa Shoguchi as master of ceremonies.
Tickets for the main event are free and all reserved seats, handled through eplus; the first advance lottery runs from October 8 at 19:00 to October 12 at 23:59.
Screening events will be held on October 31 and November 1 at two venues, Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas and TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro, covering about 10 titles, four of them with talk shows announced this time. October 31 brings the premiere of episode 1 of the TV anime LONA and a fifth-anniversary screening of Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night, while November 1 features a 10th-anniversary anime screening of My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising and the premiere of Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart.
All experience and learning programs are free, including a children's anime workshop based on Chibi Maruko-chan, an anime staff seminar and an anime creator course. On the opening day, October 30, a conference titled "Toward the Start of a New Anime Award in 2027" will be held at the TIFFCOM 2026 venue. The event is organized by the Japan Animation Association, co-organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, with special support from Toshima City and Sony Music Solutions as the operating secretariat.
