Yuri!!! on Ice Returns to Theaters for 10th Anniversary
Crunchyroll brings Yuri!!! on Ice to U.S. and Canadian theaters for one night only on October 19, screening the first five episodes.
Crunchyroll has announced that Yuri!!! on Ice will return to select theaters across the United States and Canada for a single night on October 19 at 7:00 PM local time. The event celebrates the anime's 10th anniversary and will screen the first five episodes. Tickets are already on sale.
The screening is part of Crunchyroll's ongoing theatrical program, which the company first introduced last year as "Crunchyroll Anime Nights." That initiative brought anime titles to cinemas for limited runs, beginning with Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved.
Produced by MAPPA, Yuri!!! on Ice originally aired in 2016 and became one of the biggest anime of that year, running for a single season of 12 episodes. Its blend of figure skating drama and romance earned a dedicated global following.
A follow-up film titled YURI!!! on ICE the movie: ICE ADOLESCENCE was announced but ultimately scrapped due to "various circumstances." The series also left a mark beyond anime: Japanese figure skaters Miu Suzaki and Ryuichi Kihara performed one of its songs at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
