Ace Combat 8 Promo Shows Director Flying Real Jet
Bandai Namco released a promo video for Ace Combat 8 in which brand director Kazutoki Kono rides in a real fighter jet.
Bandai Namco has released a promotional video for Ace Combat 8 that puts brand director Kazutoki Kono in the back seat of a real fighter jet. In the video, Kono admits he was scared before getting in, but says that once airborne the flight became one of the most beautiful experiences of his life.
Kono also described the physical toll of the ride. He said the G-force during turns was noticeable, and that the force pushing him down into the seat stood out most.
The stunt follows a long-running wish. In June, Kono said that over 30 years of his career he had been asking to ride in one of these jets but had not yet had the chance, and neither had anyone on the team.
Kono has worked on the Ace Combat series since 1997's Ace Combat 2. Bandai Namco has put more money behind the series than ever before, including a live-action YouTube miniseries.
