During its paid early access phase, Aion 2 had already surpassed a peak concurrent player count of 170,000. The game reached the top of Steam's sales chart through paid package sales alone.
Developed by NCSOFT, Aion 2 is the sequel to the original Aion MMORPG. The company's previous Steam release, Throne and Liberty, had somewhat disappointing results due to various internal and external factors. NCSOFT has also faced challenges with its overseas market expansion in the past.
