American Truck Simulator Road Trip DLC Adds Cars and Sightseeing
SCS Software's new Road Trip DLC brings Ford cars and Tourist Boards with local itineraries to seven of the game's 21 states.
SCS Software has released a new DLC for American Truck Simulator called Road Trip, which adds passenger cars and tourism features to the truck simulation game, according to Polygon.
The pack includes a small number of cars, all Fords: modern F-150 and Bronco models, a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback and a 1998 Crown Victoria. A Dodge and Ram pack is also stated to be coming soon.
Road Trip adds Tourist Boards in seven of the 21 states currently in American Truck Simulator. Each board unlocks an itinerary of local attractions to visit and tick off.
The Northern California Sierra Crossing board, for example, guides players to Lake Tahoe, Eldorado National Forest and Yosemite National Park. The Golden Horizon board includes Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Santa Cruz beachfront.
Driving around every point of interest from a single board can take an hour or more of real time and a couple of days of in-game time.
Tourism arrives in a truck game
Both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator use continent-spanning maps on a roughly 1:20 scale, expanded over time through DLC.
