Apex Legends ranked overhaul adds Legend Ban and new ranks

Respawn's roadmap covers Seasons 31 and 32, with a Legend Ban system at Diamond and above and Iron, Emerald and Grandmaster ranks arriving in early 2027.

Respawn Entertainment published a roadmap for ranked mode changes across Seasons 31 and 32 of Apex Legends on October 21, according to news.denfaminicogamer.jp. The plan covers a new Legend Ban system, adjustments to ranked entry costs and participation requirements, and a revised rank ladder.

Season 31 begins in November and introduces the Legend Ban system for matches at Diamond rank and above. Each player selects one Legend they want banned before a match, and two Legends are randomly selected from the vote counts to be unusable for that match. The most-voted Legend is not automatically banned, a measure intended to prevent a fixed ban pattern.

Season 31 also adjusts entry costs in matches with large skill gaps and relaxes the requirements for ranked participation.

New ranks and league split in Season 32

Season 32, scheduled for early 2027, adds three new ranks: Iron, Emerald and Grandmaster. Iron replaces Rookie as the lowest rank, and Rookie's special rules are removed. Emerald is a four-tier rank placed between Platinum and Diamond, while Grandmaster sits at the top of the ladder, with the top 750 Grandmaster players at season end earning the Predator badge.

Ranked will also be split into an Open League up to Emerald and a Pro-Am League for Diamond and above. Scoring in Open League places more weight on kills, while Pro-Am League scoring emphasizes placement. Rewards are also planned to be refreshed.
