Arkane Studios Faces November 13 Closure Without Buyer
Le Monde reports the deadline is the end of consultations with Arkane's Social and Economic Committee, with 217 jobs at stake.
Arkane Studios will be closed by November 13 unless a buyer is found, according to a report from Le Monde. Takeover options are being considered to save the studio and the 217 jobs tied to Marvel's Blade.
Under France's Florange Law, a company with at least 1,000 employees must first spend at least three months seeking a new home for a studio before it can shut it down. Xbox began that consultation process over the summer, and the November 13 deadline marks the end of consultations with Arkane Studios' Social and Economic Committee.
A union representative said negotiations on the redundancy plan are going badly but expressed hope about saving Arkane if more time can be bought. Microsoft said it is looking for a partner to help carry the project into the next phase of development and commercialization.
In June, Xbox announced massive layoffs and divestment from several studios it had purchased, including Arkane Studios. The studio, known for Dishonored and Deathloop, announced Marvel's Blade in 2023.
