Gust confirms Atelier Karia body-shape system after 38,000-player survey

Developer Gust says the nutrition-based body-shape feature will ship in Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories on February 25, 2027.

Gust has confirmed that the body-shape change system will be included in Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories, after a survey of more than 38,000 people found 78.9% of respondents approved of the feature, according to gamemeca.com.

Under the system, the build of protagonist Karia grows in proportion to how much nutrition she takes in, including snacks.

Approval varies by language group

Support differed across respondent groups: 90.79% among English-language respondents, 74.61% among Japanese-language respondents, 74.19% among Traditional Chinese respondents and 58.60% among Simplified Chinese respondents.

Gust is giving players control over how far the change goes. The system can be switched off entirely, in which case Karia's build stays the same no matter how much she eats. With the system on, a separate control lets players lock her appearance at a given point so it does not change further.

In October 2025 context shared by Gust, the studio described how eating ingredients, dishes and synthesized items found in the game alters Karia's appearance and abilities, with her hair colour changing or fairy wings appearing under certain conditions.

The game is set for release on February 25, 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, with official Korean support.
