Baldur's Gate 3 sells 23.2 million copies, Alinea estimates

Alinea Analytics puts lifetime revenue at around $1.2 billion, with just over 80% of sales coming on Steam for PC.

Baldur's Gate 3 has sold 23.2 million copies across all platforms, according to figures from analyst firm Alinea Analytics reported by gamesradar.com. The firm also estimates the Larian Studios role-playing game has generated around $1.2 billion in revenue.

PC was the dominant platform in the split, with just over 80% of sales recorded on Steam. PS5 accounted for 12.7% of copies sold, and Xbox Series X for 6.8%.

Alinea Analytics says the game's monthly active player count has not fallen below two million since launch. Roughly 1% of players have logged more than 500 hours of playtime, the firm's data indicates.

Platform split and long tail

According to Rhys Elliott, head of market analytics at Alinea Analytics, the platform distribution follows the game's rollout: Baldur's Gate 3 went 1.0 on PC in 2023 before its PS5 and Xbox Series X releases.

Alinea's total places the game about seven million copies short of Elden Ring, and nearly triple the most recent figures for Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
