Battlefield 6 free on Steam until Oct. 20, Standard Edition $27.99
Battlefield 6 is free to play on Steam through Oct. 20, 2026, as Season 5 and its Rapid Royale battle royale mode get underway.
Battlefield 6 is free to play on Steam through Oct. 20, 2026, publisher EA's PC platform listing shows. The Standard Edition is also discounted to $27.99, 60% off its $69.99 price, for the same period.
The promotion runs alongside Season 5, which launched on Oct. 13, 2026, adding new maps, six weapons, two vehicles and a free-to-play battle royale mode called Rapid Royale.
The Season 5 update also teases a limited-time Halloween event inspired by EA's Dead Space franchise, showing armor inspired by protagonist Isaac Clarke and a glimpse of the alien Markers. No date for the event has been announced.
Battle pass cosmetics draw criticism
Season 5 battle pass cosmetics have drawn player criticism over suspected AI-generated character designs. Players have pointed to examples including a soldier carrying five identical pistols and an arm patch that misspells "security" as "secuty." EA has not confirmed the use of AI.
Battlefield 6 players previously complained about suspected AI-generated artwork in the game.
