EA removes Mass Effect items from Battlefield 6 store after BioWare shutdown news
N7 patches, weapon items and a Normandy charm disappeared from Battlefield 6's in-game store shortly after EA said it was shutting down BioWare.
Planned Mass Effect-themed cosmetics have been removed from Battlefield 6's in-game store with no explanation, shortly after EA announced it was shutting down BioWare, according to Kotaku. The items included N7 logo patches and weapon items, as well as a charm modelled on the Normandy, Commander Shepard's ship in the original Mass Effect trilogy.
EA has not given a reason for the removal. Kotaku said it contacted EA for comment and had not received a response at the time of writing.
The change follows the publisher's announcement that it is shutting down BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect.
An overlap with N7 Day
On October 13, 2026, fans spotted new Mass Effect accessories for Battlefield, presumably intended for N7 Day, the annual Mass Effect celebration. In 2025, EA cut BioWare staff shortly before Battlefield 6 ran a Mass Effect collaboration.
BioWare staff had spent years working on Mass Effect: Universe, the fifth game in the series. An Amazon Mass Effect TV series has been reported to still be in production.
