Bit Reactor Brings Back Furloughed Staff for Star Wars Zero Company

CEO Greg Foertsch called the return an important step in continued support for Zero Company, sources say headcount is now above half of pre-furlough level.

Bit Reactor, the studio behind Star Wars Zero Company, announced it is beginning to bring furloughed team members back to work starting this week, according to gamedeveloper.com. The move restores the studio to more than half of its pre-furlough headcount, sources estimated.

Leadership cites continued support

CEO Greg Foertsch said the return of team members is an important step in continued support for Zero Company. The studio did not disclose specific numbers for the returning employees.

Last month, Game File reported and the company later confirmed that Bit Reactor had furloughed over 80 percent of its employees, leaving a skeleton crew. As Game File points out, the United States Department of Labor does not require companies to disclose specific numbers for furloughs unless workers have been laid off.

A former employee raised concerns on LinkedIn about whether returning or still-furloughed staff would receive profit sharing from the game's launch. That question remains unanswered.
