Bit Reactor Begins Reversing Furloughs as Payroll Climbs
Bit Reactor says it has started bringing furloughed staff back, with a source telling Game File that payroll is now above half its pre-furlough level.
Bit Reactor announced on Bluesky that it has begun bringing back furloughed staff, reversing part of a cost-cutting move made earlier this year. An unnamed source familiar with the situation told Game File that the studio's payroll is now back above half of its pre-furlough level.
CEO Greg Foertsch has said the original furlough decision was made in response to unexpected business developments outside of the company's control.
The studio is behind Star Wars Zero Company, which launched earlier this year with some issues that were partly addressed in a patch shortly after release. The game still reached the Steam best seller's list.
Background
At the time of the furloughs, Game File reported that 80 percent of Bit Reactor employees were affected and that the decision fell with Bit Reactor rather than publisher EA. PC Gamer associate editor Ted Litchfield reviewed Star Wars Zero Company and gave it a glowing assessment.
