Bloober Team Pledges to Keep Making Physical Games as Long as Possible
CEO Piotr Babieno says digital distribution is cheaper and more profitable, but the studio still plans to release its games on disc.
Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno said the studio wants to keep producing physical retail versions of its games for as long as possible, according to IGN. Babieno said that although digital distribution is easier, cheaper and more profitable for everyone involved, the studio still intends to release its titles on disc.
The developer's Silent Hill 2 Remake shipped with physical disc support for PC and PlayStation 5 when it launched in 2024. A remake of the first Silent Hill game was announced in June 2025 but has no release date.
Bloober's physical-media plans extend to its subsidiary Broken Mirror Games, which is developing Onyx: The Dark Group, a 2.5D horror game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Broken Mirror executive director Tymon Smektala joined Bloober Team earlier in 2026 after leaving Dying Light developer Techland.
The comments come as Sony has said it will end support for PlayStation discs in 2028.
