Square Enix opens preorders for Chrono Trigger music box at $29.99
The hand-cranked Far Off Promise box, in a translucent orange case featuring Crono and Marle, is listed for a December 2026 release.
Square Enix has revealed a Chrono Trigger music box called Far Off Promise, priced at $29.99 and open for preorder through the official North American Square Enix Store, according to gamerant.com. The collectible is listed with an official release date of December 2026, though the company notes that shipping could affect it.
The hand-cranked box plays the theme Far Off Promise and comes in a translucent orange case decorated with artwork of Crono and Marle, the RPG's main character and his companion. It measures approximately 1.57 inches long, 2.36 inches wide and 1.97 inches deep.
The announcement follows a run of similar merchandise from the publisher. Square Enix has released numerous music boxes based on its games in recent years, with Final Fantasy receiving particular attention, including collectibles inspired by Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 9 and Final Fantasy 10.
Among those, the Final Fantasy 9: Roses of May Collection has been cited as evidence that Final Fantasy 9 may have received more music boxes than any other game in Square Enix's catalog.
Chrono Trigger was originally released for the Super Nintendo, with the article's fact box dating it March 11, 1995. Its characters were designed by Akira Toriyama, the Dragon Ball creator.
