Crimson Desert's Charting the Unknown DLC Adds Oceans and Naval Battles

Pearl Abyss released the $24.99 expansion on October 30, 2026, bringing underwater exploration, ship customization, and a housing overhaul to Crimson Desert.

Pearl Abyss released the Charting the Unknown DLC for Crimson Desert on October 30, 2026, according to wccftech.com. The expansion, priced at $24.99, adds a large ocean map with surrounding archipelagos and lets players explore the entire ocean underwater.

The DLC introduces dynamic naval battles between NPC factions and allows players to use their dragon to attack enemy ships from above. Ocean exploration begins through the quest A Wider World, which unlocks after completing Howling Hill and expanding the Greymane camp. Players can build ships through dispatch missions or buy them from fleetmasters, then customize them with purchased parts. Maritime trading with new goods is also added, and uncharted islands offer new missions while treasure maps point to hidden rewards.

Underwater, diving introduces a breath gauge that can be increased by refining the diving suit, and new equipment lets the A.T.A.G. operate below the surface. Underwater creatures can become registered mounts after raising Trust by subduing or feeding them. Kliff, Oongka and Damiane each receive an individual quest available after completing the main story quest Journey's End.

The housing overhaul lets players design layouts and place structural elements including walls and windows, with 17 additional residences and two castles to decorate. Liberated strongholds can host restaurants, sawmills, smithies and tailor's shops that keep operating while the player is away. Relationships gain an additional Trust level, with marriage proposals possible at 100 Trust. Spouses can live in a designated residence, accompany players and occasionally give gifts, while camp festivals let players build relationships and recruit some visitors as Honorary Greymanes for dispatch missions.

The Garden of Trials introduces ten challenge groups after Journey's End, disables food-based healing, and enhances an existing skill each time a group is cleared. New bosses and equipment are also added. On PC, players gain independently selectable upscaling and frame-generation technologies, including combining DLSS upscaling with FSR Frame Generation.

Pearl Abyss noted that saves created with the DLC installed cannot be loaded or cross-saved into a version without it, and the developer did not share review codes ahead of the DLC's debut. The official version 2.04.00 patch notes describe the DLC's features.
