Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners update adds cross-platform mods

CD PROJEKT RED released a free update for Cyberpunk 2077 titled the Edgerunners update, the studio announced. The update mixes content tied to the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime with cross-platform mod support and a set of technical changes, gamingonlinux.com reported.

The headline gameplay addition is a new side quest called Clampdown, set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. It unlocks after completing The Heist and two gigs for Wakako. Finishing Clampdown also yields a 5-piece gear set based on the character King. A second new side quest, narrated by Richard Night, unlocks after The Heist and reaching level 15 Street Cred.

On the cosmetic side, five new outfit sets can be bought from clothing vendors in specified districts, including the NUS Infiltrator set in Kabuki and Japantown, and four new TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech are available via Twitch Drops. Some hairstyles previously limited to NPCs are now available for V, and hand cyberware can be customized at five Glamdocs in unique shops. A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays tracks from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series.

Combat changes include the Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, which with four auxiliary perks allows dual-wielding Power pistols and revolvers. Photo Mode gains Cyberpunk Trading Card Game frames and new dual-wielding poses, and twelve new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards have been added, with the Tarot menu now split into Major and Minor Arcana sections.

The update also adds cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io, available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Load Game saves are now grouped by separate playthroughs, with modded saves marked by a dedicated icon; item filters were added to apartment and vehicle stashes, and an FOV slider was added on consoles.

Graphics options were revised as well: FSR 3 upscaling was removed while FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain, and DLSS 4.5 support was added with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and the 2nd Generation Transformer Model. The update also supports glasses-free 3D effects on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors with a Motion Comfort setting, and adds MetalFX Frame Interpolation support.
