Cyberpunk 2077 NightCoop mod brings eight-player co-op
The fan-made NightCoop mod is in closed testing for the prologue and act 1, with each player creating their own version of V.
The NightCoop team has officially revealed NightCoop, a co-op mod for Cyberpunk 2077 that supports up to eight players in a single shared world, according to GameRant. The project is planned for PC and currently has no release date.
NightCoop places players together in one shared Night City with shared combat and a PvP toggle. Dialogue choices are settled by a player vote, so the group decides how conversations play out rather than a single host.
Each player creates their own version of the protagonist V, meaning a session can feature several different Vs at once. A trailer for the mod shows two players in action. Characters such as Jackie Welles and Johnny Silverhand are not playable in the mod.
Closed testing is currently focused on the prologue and act 1 of Cyberpunk 2077. The team has not indicated when testing might expand to later parts of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 had a controversial release in 2020 before the Phantom Liberty expansion overhauled the game in 2023. Its last major patch was update 2.3.1 in November 2025, and the game received an official PS5 Pro update in April 2026 with new visual options. Developer CD Projekt Red has also confirmed that Cyberpunk 2 is in the works, while Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 arrives on Netflix this month in October 2026.
