Dawn of War 4 to Ship With Four Campaigns, 70-Plus Missions
King Art Games says Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will launch with four single-player campaigns, one per faction, and more than 70 campaign missions.
King Art Games has disclosed new details about the single-player offering in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, saying the real-time strategy game will carry four campaigns and more than 70 campaign missions at launch. The studio's comments were reported by IGN.
Each of the four campaigns is tied to one of the launch factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus. The game opens with two tutorial missions in which players control the Astra Militarum.
Studio representative Jan Theysen said the volume of single-player content is larger than that of any other RTS at release. By comparison, Dawn of War, developed by Relic Entertainment, shipped with 11 campaign missions, Dawn of War 2 offered a non-linear campaign running 20 to 30 missions per average playthrough, and Dawn of War 3 included 17 campaign missions, according to IGN.
The Ork campaign alone amounts to roughly 18 missions in total, of which about 14 to 15 are playable in a single playthrough. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 is set to release in December.
Post-launch plans
King Art Games also outlined its post-launch schedule. Crusade Mode and Map Pack 1 are planned for early next year, followed by a second map pack and Lord Ahmnok Last Stand Crusade in early spring. A third map pack and a mission editor are due after that, with a fourth map pack and Guzcutta Last Stand Crusade in early summer.
Paid additions include the Blood Ravens story prologue in spring and the Aftermath campaign expansion, which introduces a new faction, in summer.
