Debra Wilson Questions Why Games Use Her Real Likeness
The voice actor, who plays Callisto in Marvel's Wolverine, said on the Hyperfixated podcast that she prefers roles where the character does not look like her.
Debra Wilson said she does not know why so many of her video game roles use her real-world likeness, attributing the decision to developers. The voice actor made the comments during an appearance on the podcast Hyperfixated with host Joseph Shepherd, a clip of which has resurfaced, as reported by Kotaku.
Wilson told Shepherd that the choice usually comes down to the developers rather than the performer. She added that she prefers roles where the character does not resemble her, so that she can escape into the part.
The podcast episode was recorded before the release of Marvel's Wolverine, in which Wilson plays Callisto, the one-eyed leader of the Morlocks. Insomniac Games had the game's primary cast resemble their actors, as was also done in Call of Duty, Death Stranding and Star Wars Jedi.
Wilson has contributed voice performances to games for decades, with credits including Wolfenstein, Star Wars Jedi, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Death Stranding.
Separately, developer Del Walker posted on X on September 17, 2026 that Wilson's audition videos stand out against her competition, defending her casting.
