Modder Builds Unpublished VR Mod for Diablo 2: Resurrected

A Reddit user combined D2R-3D, FlatVR and BodyWalk into a first-person VR mod for Diablo 2: Resurrected, but has not released it yet.

A Reddit user going by fantasticauthor2736 has created a VR mod that turns Diablo 2: Resurrected into a first-person VR game, according to IGN. The mod has not been published, but videos of it running have been posted online.

The project is built on three existing tools: the D2R-3D conversion mod, FlatVR and BodyWalk. D2R-3D, made by emmericp, gives Diablo 2: Resurrected more robust camera controls and renders a 3D view using the game's existing 3D assets.

Redesigned interface

In the VR version, the modder moved the inventory to the character's belt and shifted the health, mana and toolbar UI to the left wrist. The map appears as an orb held in the hand.

The mod is expected to share a restriction with D2R-3D: Blizzard's file integrity checker flags the modified files, which in D2R-3D's case causes the game to crash after about a minute of play. Diablo 2: Resurrected also requires an online connection.
