The free demo covers the opening chapter through the events in Witherwood and lets players carry up to eight monsters into the full game.

Square Enix has released a free playable demo of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World on Steam, ahead of the game's December 3 launch. The demo covers the opening chapter and ends with the events in Witherwood, according to Screen Rant.

The demo introduces the game's combat, exploration, monster recruitment and synthesis mechanics. Recruitment is limited to rank G and F monsters during the demo.

Players who finish the demo can transfer up to eight monsters into the full game on the same platform. Completing it also unlocks a Wrangler's Bundle for the full game.

The Withered World launches on December 3 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The Steam version costs $59.99, while a $94.99 Digital Deluxe Edition includes extra content and 48 hours of early access.

The game follows Bianca and Nera, carried over from Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, as they seek a cure for their ill fathers. The series' previous entry, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, released before this title.
