El Paso, Elsewhere 2 Launches in 2027, Free PC Demo Out Today

Strange Scaffold's vampire shooter sequel arrives in 2027 on PC and Xbox Series X, with a free demo available now ahead of Steam Next Fest.

Strange Scaffold has announced that El Paso, Elsewhere 2 will launch in 2027 on Windows PC and Xbox Series X, according to Polygon. A free PC demo is available starting today, ahead of Steam Next Fest.

The sequel picks up a few years after the first game and continues the story of vampire hunter James Savage. This time, Savage is betrayed by a confidant who buries him alive and sends him to the monster-infested Void. He no longer needs pills to heal; instead, he uses a glass stake to turn monsters into what director Xalavier Nelson Jr. calls Capri Suns.

The game leaves behind the motel setting of the original. The demo takes place in a dingy swamp with more verticality, where players can use a vampire double jump and fight zombies, witches, mafioso vampires and flying gargoyles. The arsenal is larger too, including a Tommy gun modified to shoot stakes. The trench coat is gone, dropped for technical reasons.

Nelson described the sequel as the Quake to El Paso, Elsewhere's Doom. It will have 20 levels, down from 50 in the first game.

Background

Strange Scaffold released the Max Payne-inspired El Paso, Elsewhere in 2023, and it became an indie hit. In 2024, a film adaptation was announced with LaKeith Stanfield tapped to star. The first game's trench coat was buggy, leading to its removal in the sequel.
