Epic Games Plans Fortnite on Linux After Anti-Cheat Rebuild
Epic Games also released a new Epic Games Store client with a Linux version, but the Steam Deck is not yet supported.
Epic Games has announced it intends to bring Fortnite to Linux, according to pcgamer.com. The company is rebuilding its Easy Anti-Cheat system to support the platform, referring to the new version as EAC Linux v2.
Epic said that once EAC Linux v2 works with a critical mass of distro maintainers, it will bring Fortnite to Linux through the Epic Games Launcher. The company also released a new Epic Games Store client that includes a Linux version.
Epic stated that the Steam Deck does not currently support the new EAC Linux v2 solution. The company added that it is actively talking with Valve about making the solution work on the handheld. Epic game security engineering director Rick Deist said the company is investigating compatibility with Steam Deck and SteamOS devices.
Epic also said it will make the anti-cheat improvements available to other developers so they can bring their games to Linux players.
Older Linux support questions
