The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Closed Beta Now Live

Owlcat Games has launched the closed beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, available now to owners of the Miller's Pack or Collector's Edition Founder package. Participants receive keys for Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation 5.

The beta offers an early mission lasting roughly one to two hours. It includes four preset player characters, J as a combat companion, eight firearms, nine abilities, and an appearance from Zafar.

The full game is scheduled to launch in spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and is confirmed for Xbox Game Pass on day one.

A new crew, not the Rocinante

Rather than following the Rocinante crew led by James Holden, players create their own captain with an Earther, Martian, or Belter background and command the ship Gemini. The captain's identical twin, J, serves as executive officer and can disagree with the player's decisions.

The wider crew includes Zafar as mechanic, Regina as sharpshooter, Teo as medic, and Michael as another mercenary. Owlcat has confirmed these characters are only part of the eventual crew.

The Expanse originally aired on Syfy and was canceled after three seasons in 2018. A fan campaign helped secure its revival at Amazon Prime Video, where it ran for three more seasons and concluded in 2022. Osiris Reborn tells an original story running alongside events from the early part of The Expanse, and Owlcat has teased encounters with returning characters and their original voices, as reported by screenrant.com.
