David Gaider Helped Write The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

Owlcat Games also recast the male lead, with Blythe Melin now voicing both the Captain and their twin J.

David Gaider has been working with Owlcat Games on the narrative of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, the writer revealed on November 6, 2026. Gaider, who created the Dragon Age setting and co-founded Summerfall Studios, said The Expanse has long been one of his favourite series and that he jumped at the chance to be involved.

Owlcat also used the announcement to show off a new voice for the game's male protagonist and their twin. The studio recast the role after feedback from beta players, and Blythe Melin now performs both parts, playing the Captain and J.

Melin's previous credits include Wolverine, Aether & Iron, Painkiller and various HoYoverse games, according to pcgamer.com.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is due in spring 2027. Owlcat is best known for isometric CRPGs such as Wrath of the Righteous and Rogue Trader, and the project is a cinematic RPG with third-person shooter combat that was playable at Gamescom.

Gaider's own credits stretch back further: he was a writer on Baldur's Gate 2 and Neverwinter Nights, and lead writer on Dragon Age: Origins and Inquisition.
