The Expanse: Osiris Reborn launches spring 2027 on PC, PS5 and Xbox
Owlcat Games' action RPG casts players as a new captain with a ship called the Gemini and a crew to recruit, alongside the first two novels' events.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will launch in spring 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Owlcat Games has confirmed. The action RPG will also be available on a subscription service from day one.
Players create their own captain rather than stepping into an established role, choosing an Earther, Martian or Belter background before the story begins. The opening finds a Pinkwater Security mercenary whose shore leave on Eros goes badly wrong.
From there, the player's crew operates out of an advanced spaceship called the Gemini. Companions can be recruited, and the game lets players build relationships with crew members and other NPCs.
Running alongside the books and the show
The story unfolds parallel to the events of the first two novels by James S. A. Corey and roughly the first two and a half seasons of the television series. Owlcat Games has confirmed that familiar characters and locations from the franchise will appear.
In a June 2026 interview with GamingBolt, Owlcat game design director Leonid Rastorguev said potential post-launch content had been discussed but nothing was finalized. The Expanse TV series was cancelled at Syfy and later revived by Amazon for three additional seasons, while 2023's The Expanse: A Telltale Series followed Camina Drummer's adventures before the events of the show.
