FF14 Keybound Brawler Event Locks Glamour Rewards by Gender

Square Enix has revealed that Keybound Brawler, the Final Fantasy 14 mini-game tied to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, will hand out gender-locked glamour rewards and run as a time-limited event starting Wednesday, October 28, according to gamerant.com. The Avalanche Brawler's attire set can only be worn by female player characters, while the Avalanche Leader's set is restricted to male player characters.

The event is set to last about three months, closing sometime in January 2027 when the Evercold expansion arrives. Keybound Brawler takes place at the Manderville Gold Saucer and unlocks from level 15, which means free trial players can take part.

Players can trade Manderville Gold Saucer Credits for a Wind-up Barret minion, a Magitek Scorpion mount and the Magitype emote. The mini-game does not support gamepads or on-screen keyboards, so a physical keyboard has to be connected to play.

Part of a longer FF7 crossover

Keybound Brawler was first shown in July during the Berlin FanFest keynote, where Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida brought Final Fantasy 7 Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi on stage. It opens a Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 14 collaboration that continues into Evercold with an 8-player raid series titled Beyond the Lifestream, whose first bosses will be available to max-level players shortly after the expansion launches in January 2027.

Square Enix said Keybound Brawler will return as a periodic event in the style of the Fall Guys collaboration. A Tokyo FanFest keynote is scheduled for Friday, October 30 at 10:00 PM Eastern, where Evercold's release date and a new ranged physical DPS Job are expected to be announced.
