Final Fantasy 14 Players Water Each Other's Plants During Login Outage

Square Enix has restored logins after about 24 hours and will resume housing auto-demolition on October 26, Polygon reports.

Final Fantasy 14 players organized free in-game plant watering services for players locked out of the game during a PHP-related outage that took down a number of websites and services earlier this week, according to Polygon. Square Enix has since restored new logins and will resume the game's housing auto-demolition on October 26.

The outage affected Final Fantasy 14 logins along with other sites and services. For players who could not get in, the game's real-time plant watering timers kept running, putting in-game gardens at risk while their owners were shut out.

Players who were unaffected offered to help through Reddit and X, advertising free watering for those who could not log in. Any player in Final Fantasy 14 can water plants, including plants in other players' homes, so the offer let locked-out owners keep their gardens tended remotely.

After roughly 24 hours, Square Enix began allowing new logins again. The company briefly paused Final Fantasy 14's housing auto-demolition during the disruption and will resume it on October 26.
