Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Director Pushed for Physical Release

Director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed that he personally advocated for a physical disc release for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Hamaguchi confirmed that his efforts ensured the title would see a physical launch when it arrives on April 8, 2027.

However, players should be aware that the physical edition will function as a key disc. While the game will be available on a physical medium, it will require a substantial download to access the full game content.

Context on Physical Media

The decision to include a physical version comes against a backdrop of shifting industry standards regarding optical media. On July 1, Sony announced it would cease production of physical discs for PlayStation games starting in January 2028.

This release follows the previous entry in the series, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which notably featured a Platinum trophy designed to be particularly difficult for players to obtain.
