Fireshine Games acquires Necesse studio Fair Games

Danish indie developer Fair Games joins Fireshine, with founder Mads Skovgaard staying on as managing director.

Fireshine Games has acquired Fair Games, the Danish independent studio behind the open world sandbox title Necesse. The studio's founder and CEO, Mads Skovgaard, will remain managing director, and Fair Games will continue with its current development team.

In an announcement post on Steam, Fair Games said Fireshine will help with publishing and porting. Fireshine's plans for Necesse include continued PC support and additional platform ports, according to gamesindustry.biz.

Necesse originally launched in 2019 and has drawn an estimated 2.5 million players.

Fireshine chief portfolio officer Jasper Tanner-Barnes previously told GamesIndustry.biz, in October 2025, that there was no silver bullet for recognising a hit, after the success of Evil Raptor's Far Far West.
