Gardens Interactive raises over $35 million in Series B round

Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round, which brings the studio's total funding past $70 million as it builds Project Gardens.

Gardens Interactive has raised over $35 million in a Series B funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, according to gamesindustry.biz. The round brings the studio's total funding to more than $70 million.

Zenith Capital, Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures, Accel, Innovation Endeavours and Bayshore also participated in the round. Individual investors include Stewart Butterfield, Andy Zhong and Thomas Dimson.

Lightspeed's head of gaming and interactive media, Moritz Baier-Lentz, has joined Gardens Interactive as an independent advisor. Former TikTok COO V Pappas will serve as Lightspeed's representative on the studio's board of directors.

Mike Hong, director of investments and business analysis at Krafton, will represent Krafton on the board, succeeding Maria Park, who joins Gardens Interactive's leadership team as an independent advisor.

Project Gardens

Gardens Interactive is currently developing its debut game under the working title Project Gardens, described as a multiplayer shared fantasy adventure with social roleplay elements. No release date has been announced.

The studio was co-founded by industry veterans whose credits include Journey, What Remains of Edith Finch and Sky: Children of the Light, and its funding now stands at more than $70 million in total.
