Game Boy Advance Nintendo Classics rating raised to CERO B
CERO's rating for the Game Boy Advance Nintendo Classics collection moved from A to B, with Metal Slug Advance seen as the likely cause.
The CERO rating of Game Boy Advance Nintendo Classics has been raised from A (all ages) to B (ages 12 and up), according to the collection's Nintendo Store product page. The change follows Nintendo's October 14 addition of Metal Slug Advance, Kururin Paradise and Monster Rancher Advance to the service.
The addition of Metal Slug Advance is considered the likely cause of the rating change. Metal Slug Advance was originally released by SNK Playmore in 2004 as a Game Boy Advance entry in the Metal Slug series, a run of games that has carried a B rating with a 'violence' content descriptor from CERO since March 2006.
On the CERO official site's title search, every Metal Slug game reviewed since April 2004 is listed as B with the same descriptor, including Metal Slug 7 for Nintendo DS in 2008, Metal Slug XX for PlayStation Portable in 2009 and the ACA NEOGEO ports.
Before this change, Game Boy Advance Nintendo Classics was the only title in the Nintendo Classics series with an A rating, a status it had held for over three years since its February 2023 launch. No title in the series now carries an A rating, with Nintendo 64 Nintendo Classics rated C (ages 15 and up) and Nintendo 64 Nintendo Classics 18+ rated Z (ages 18 and up).
Other rated titles still missing
Automaton Media reported the change. CERO's B-rated list also includes Tactics Ogre Gaiden and the title known as Napoleon, neither of which is yet available in Game Boy Advance Nintendo Classics.
