GOG Showcase Debuts Wing Commander and Road Rash Anniversary Editions
GOG's first Showcase also outlined Linux support for GOG GALAXY in 2027 and opened closed beta sign-ups for the GOG Social community feature.
GOG held its first GOG Showcase streaming event on November 6, 2026, presenting plans for classic game preservation, platform features and indie publishing. The announcements included anniversary editions of six Wing Commander titles and a 30th-anniversary edition of Road Rash, according to 4Gamer.net.
The Wing Commander releases were produced with Electronic Arts and cover 35th-anniversary editions of Wing Commander and Wing Commander II, plus 30th-anniversary editions of Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger, Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom, Wing Commander Prophecy and Privateer 2: The Darkening. Each edition bundles an improved version with the original, and users who already own the corresponding Wing Commander games on GOG receive the anniversary editions for free.
GOG's preservation team led restoration work on Wing Commander Prophecy, using archived footage from Electronic Arts and fan-made mods to improve video display and add native gamepad support.
Platform, community and publishing plans
GOG announced Linux support for its GOG GALAXY client in a new version planned for 2027, which will also refresh the Windows and Mac versions with faster performance and improved library display. GOG GALAXY remains optional, and offline installers for games will continue to be available.
The company also reintroduced its indie publishing initiative Retrovibe by GOG with titles including Project Warlock: Lost Chapters, Shardpunk 2, The Looter, After Hell Freezes Over and the already-released COP BASTARD. A new community feature called GOG Social will support screenshots, videos, polls and threaded replies, with tagging and spoiler protection; closed beta sign-ups are open.
GOG reported that its GOG Preservation Program has drawn over 10,000 supporters from more than 100 countries, covering over 300 titles and more than 1,700 technical fixes. The action RPG Nox was newly added after its technical issues were fixed. The Showcase stream is archived on YouTube.
