Rockstar Drops Grand Theft Auto 6 Launch Trailer

Rockstar Games has released a new launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, highlighting the relationship between protagonists Jason and Lucia. The trailer arrived on 15th October 2026, according to Eurogamer.

The release date, 19th November 2026, places the game one day before The Game Awards 2026 eligibility cut-off of Friday, 20th November 2026 at 9pm PT. That single-day margin makes Grand Theft Auto 6 eligible for the ceremony, which takes place on 10th December.

Industry watcher Shinobi602 highlighted the cut-off timing on X, drawing attention to the narrow gap between the game's launch and the awards deadline.

The Game Awards has seen record-setting runs in recent years. In 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won nine awards including Game of the Year. In 2023, Baldur's Gate 3 took six awards, while in 2018 Red Dead Redemption 2 won four, with Roger Clark receiving Best Performance for his role as Arthur Morgan.

Separately, 31 staff were fired from Rockstar North in 2025, leading to an employment tribunal in Scotland. A verdict is not expected until well into November 2026.
