Game Informer Reveals GTA VI Map Regions and Relationship System

Rockstar's Aaron Garbut says the studio aims to overdeliver as Game Informer details Leonida's six regions, a Heat system, and a six-star Wanted level.

Game Informer has published a new cover story on Grand Theft Auto VI containing official details about the game, including its relationship system, a new police mechanic and the layout of its map, according to wccftech.com. Rockstar Games art director Aaron Garbut told the outlet that the studio aims to overdeliver given the unprecedented expectations surrounding the title.

The map, named Leonida, is roughly double the size of GTA V's world and is the biggest Rockstar has built. It is split into six main regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Grand Theft Auto VI also includes a relationship system in which players can influence whether Jason and Lucia remain friends or become a romantic couple. Players cannot make the two break up, as their story is linked. Choosing friendship or romance offers no gameplay benefit, though some story elements change.

The game features a returning six-star Wanted level alongside a new police Heat system. A new in-game phone app called WAiNK lets players scan vehicles for security details and fencing value.

Return to South Florida

As reported before, Leonida is roughly double the size of GTA V's world. Rockstar made repeated trips to Miami and South Florida over the past several years to research the setting.
