H-Hour: World's Elite Returns to Steam as a Free Game

SOF Studios' tactical shooter is back on Steam at no cost on October 7, 2026, with the Custom Workshop Maps DLC also free.

H-Hour: World's Elite is back on Steam as a free game, according to an official Steam Community post published on October 7, 2026. The tactical shooter, which previously sold for about $25, can now be downloaded at no cost.

The Custom Workshop Maps DLC is also available to Steam users at no extra cost, alongside the base game.

H-Hour offers several modes, including Elimination, Demolition, Breach, Sabotage, Suppression, and Hostage Extraction. Most matches are 8v8, putting 16 players in total on the field.

The game was initially released in 2015 and was delisted from Steam in 2023 at the developer's request after a rough launch. It had been advertised as a spiritual successor to the SOCOM series on PlayStation, and David Sears, a creative director on the SOCOM franchise, led H-Hour: World's Elite during its early days.

After launch the game was abandoned, and many reports described hackers spamming lobbies with malicious or inappropriate content. A small group of dedicated tactical shooter fans has since tried to maintain the game and keep it alive, addressing some issues on active servers.
